Beam Size Compensation

Beam Size Compensation lets Lumentrace automatically adjust a fixture's beam size as the performer moves across the stage, keeping the apparent spot size consistent.

In the Fixture Settings tab of the Tracking Settings panel (right column), find the Beam Compensation section.

Supported modes

The available modes depend on the fixture's profile:

Calibration

Beam calibration is done per mesh point — the same points used for position calibration. For each point on the mesh:

  1. Select Calibrate... to open the beam calibration overlay.
  2. Click a mesh point to select it.
  3. Adjust the fixture's iris/zoom/focus controls to the desired beam size for that point.
  4. Move to the next point and repeat.
  5. Once all points are visited, the calibration is computed automatically using a 2D interpolation across the stage.

Output requirements

For attributes to be included in DMX output when Show Mode is active, they must be enabled in Controlled Attributes (Network → Show Mode):

  • Enable Iris, Zoom, and/or Focus for beam size compensation to be output.
  • Enable Intensity if Intensity Masks are active for this fixture, so the attenuated intensity value is included in the output.
