Calibration Overview

Calibration teaches Lumentrace the relationship between pixels on screen and DMX values on stage.

How it works

You place calibration points on known positions on stage. For each point you record:

  • where it appears on the camera feed (pixel coordinate)
  • what DMX pan/tilt values point the fixture at that position

Lumentrace builds a calibration mesh from these point pairs and uses it to interpolate any pixel position into DMX output.

Accuracy

More points = more accurate mesh, especially at the edges and corners of the stage. A minimum of 3 points is required. 9–16 points is typical for production use.

Recalibration

If the camera moves or the fixture is repositioned, recalibrate. Individual points can be updated without redoing the full mesh.

See Calibration.
