Intensity Masks
Intensity masks define regions of the canvas where fixture intensity is automatically reduced. When a tracker enters a masked region, the intensity for its assigned fixtures is attenuated accordingly.
Use cases
- Dim the followspot automatically when the performer exits into the wings.
- Protect a camera position from accidental exposure.
- Create a soft edge where the lit area ends.
Opening intensity masks
Tools → Intensity Masks... (Ctrl+Shift+M).
Adding a mask
Click + in the Intensity Masks panel to add a mask. Position and resize it on the canvas, then adjust its properties:
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Width | Width of the masked region (% of canvas) |
| Height | Height of the masked region (% of canvas) |
| Rotation | Rotation angle in degrees |
| Feather | Edge softness — 0% = hard cut, 100% = fully feathered gradient |
Enabling masks per fixture
Intensity masks are global but must be explicitly enabled for each fixture. In the Fixture Settings tab of the Tracking Settings panel (right column), find the Intensity Masks toggle and enable it for each fixture that should react to masks.
Fixtures with the toggle off are unaffected by masks regardless of tracker position.
Multiple masks
Multiple masks can overlap. The lowest intensity value of all overlapping masks applies to the tracker.
