Connecting to a Server

Connection screen

When you launch Lumentrace Client, the connection screen asks for:

  • Systems — auto-discovered servers on the network (click Scan to refresh).
  • Host IP — enter manually if auto-discovery doesn't find the server.
  • Password — leave blank if the server has no password set.
  • Operator name — required. This name is shown to other operators and identifies who holds each tracker.

Click Connect once the fields are filled.

Auto-discovery

Lumentrace broadcasts its presence on the local network via mDNS. Servers on the same subnet appear in the Systems list automatically.

If the server and client are on different subnets but a gateway allows traffic between them, auto-discovery will not work — enter the server's IP address manually instead.

Connection status

Once connected, the client shows the live camera feeds and tracker controls. If the server becomes unreachable, the client shows a reconnection indicator and retries automatically.

Disconnecting

Close the client app or click Disconnect to end the session. The server continues running and serving other clients.
