Download
Download the latest release from lumentrace.app/download.
Two separate installers are available:
- Lumentrace — the main console app
- Lumentrace Client — the remote operator app (see Client installation)
macOS
-
Open the
.dmgfile. -
Drag Lumentrace to your Applications folder.
-
First launch — because Lumentrace is distributed directly (not through the App Store), macOS Gatekeeper asks you to confirm it once:
- macOS 14 and earlier: right-click (or Control-click) the app in Applications, choose Open, then Open again in the dialog.
- macOS 15 Sequoia and later: double-click once (it will be blocked), then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway, then confirm.
You only do this once. After that the app opens normally with a double-click. No Terminal commands are needed.
-
On first run macOS may prompt for permissions — allow both:
- Local Network — required for Art-Net and NDI discovery.
- Camera — required if you are using a local USB or built-in camera.
Windows
- Run the
.exeinstaller. - First launch — Windows SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC" because the installer is not signed with a paid certificate. Click More info, then Run anyway. This is expected and only appears once.
- Follow the installer prompts, then launch Lumentrace from the Start menu.
- Windows Firewall may prompt to allow network access — allow it on private networks.
