Show Mode
Show Mode involves two separate concepts that work together: the output mode configured in Network settings, and the Show Mode toggle in the home bottom bar.
Output mode (Network settings)
Open Setup → Open Settings... → Network → Show Mode to set the output mode.
Direct Output
Lumentrace sends DMX directly from its own tracking output. No console input is involved.
Merge
Lumentrace receives a live DMX input universe from the console. The incoming signal is used as a baseline when the Show Mode toggle is active (see below).
Controlled Attributes
Also in the Show Mode panel, select which attributes Lumentrace controls when the Show Mode toggle is active: pan, tilt, intensity, zoom, iris, focus.
For beam size compensation attributes (zoom, iris, focus) to be output, they must be checked here.
Show Mode toggle (home bottom bar)
The SHOW MODE button in the home bottom bar activates or deactivates show mode logic. Its effect depends on which output mode is configured.
Without Show Mode active
In both Direct Output and Merge modes, Lumentrace outputs all tracked values normally for linked fixtures. The Controlled Attributes selection is not applied, and no console passthrough occurs.
Use this for full standalone operation: Direct Output + Show Mode OFF — Lumentrace drives fixtures exclusively with no filtering.
Direct Output + Show Mode ON
Only the Controlled Attributes of fixtures linked to a tracker are output. Everything else goes to 0:
- Linked fixtures, controlled attributes: live tracking values.
- Linked fixtures, non-controlled attributes: 0.
- Unlinked fixtures: all channels 0.
Use this when running alongside a console via HTP merge: Lumentrace outputs only pan/tilt/intensity (or whichever attributes are selected), leaving the rest at 0. The console handles color, gobo, and all other attributes via HTP. When a fixture is unlinked, its controlled attributes fade to 0 over the duration set in Crossfade Time.
Merge + Show Mode ON
The DMX input from the console is used as the frame baseline:
- Unlinked fixtures: full console passthrough.
- Linked fixtures, controlled attributes: Lumentrace overrides with live tracking values.
- Linked fixtures, non-controlled attributes: console passthrough.
When a fixture is unlinked, its controlled attributes fade back to the console's input values over Crossfade Time.
Quick reference
| Configuration | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Direct Output + Show Mode OFF | Full standalone. All tracked attributes output normally. |
| Direct Output + Show Mode ON | Only controlled attributes of linked fixtures output. Everything else → 0. |
| Merge + Show Mode ON | Console passthrough as baseline. Linked fixtures: LT overrides controlled attributes only. |
For wiring examples and how to integrate Lumentrace into a network with a console, see Network Topologies.
Panic release
The PANIC RELEASE button in the home bottom bar immediately suspends Lumentrace's DMX output for all controlled attributes, returning full control to the console or zeroing those channels.
When Panic Release is active, a flashing banner appears on the server canvas. The client app does not show the panic banner.
