Patching Fixtures

Opening the patch

Open Setup → Open Settings... (Ctrl+,). In the Settings panel, select Patch.

Adding a fixture

Click Add Fixture. The dialog shows:

FieldDescription
FixtureSelect from the fixture catalog
ModeSelect the personality mode for that fixture
QuantityNumber of fixtures to add (1–999)
NameName prefix — each fixture is named {prefix} {id} where the ID is assigned automatically and increments from the highest existing ID
Start patchStarting DMX address in universe.channel format (e.g. 1.001)

Click OK to confirm. If adding multiple fixtures, channels are allocated consecutively from the start address.

Editing fixtures after adding

All fields are editable in the patch table by clicking on the cell:

  • Name: click the name cell to rename.
  • Fixture type: click to change to a different fixture from the catalog.
  • Mode: click to select a different personality mode.
  • Patch address: click to change the DMX address.

Batch change: select multiple rows (click + Shift/Ctrl), then click a fixture type or mode cell in any selected row to apply the change to all selected rows. Batch mode change requires all selected fixtures to share the same fixture type.

Address conflicts

If any fixtures overlap in DMX address space or share the same name, the affected rows are highlighted in red and an error message appears below the table. Save is blocked until all conflicts are resolved.

Fixture catalog

Lumentrace ships with five preloaded factory profiles. See Fixture Builder for the full list.

Custom profiles can be added manually or imported from GDTF files. See Fixture Builder for instructions.
