Deadzone & Smoothing

Both controls are in the Global Settings tab of the Tracking Settings panel (right column of the workspace).

Deadzone

The deadzone is a minimum movement threshold. If the tracker crosshair moves less than this distance, no DMX update is sent.

This prevents micro-jitter in the camera feed from causing unnecessary fixture movement.

Range: 0–100%. Set to 0 to disable.

Smoothing

Smoothing applies a low-pass filter to tracker movement. Higher values = more lag but smoother output.

Range: 0–100%.

ValueEffect
0No smoothing — raw movement
30–50Typical production setting
100Heavy lag — for slow, deliberate movement only

Combined use

Use deadzone to eliminate small jitter, and smoothing to control the feel of larger movements. These are independent controls and can be combined freely.
