Camera Sources

Lumentrace supports four video source types: Local camera, NDI, RTSP, and SRT. ONVIF PTZ is a separate camera control protocol, not a video source — see the ONVIF PTZ section below.

Local camera

Any USB or built-in camera recognised by the OS, including capture cards (HDMI-to-USB adapters).

  • macOS: Camera access permission required on first use.
  • Select by device name in the feed settings.

NDI

Network Device Interface — receive feeds from NDI sources on the local network.

  • Sources are discovered automatically via mDNS.
  • No configuration required beyond selecting the source by name.
  • Recommended network: Gigabit LAN. Wi-Fi is not recommended for production use.

RTSP

IP cameras and encoders via RTSP.

Configure the following fields in the feed settings:

Click Connect to start the feed. Fields are locked while connected.

SRT

Secure Reliable Transport — low-latency streaming over IP.

Suitable for longer-distance or WAN connections where NDI is not practical.

ONVIF PTZ

ONVIF PTZ lets Lumentrace send pan, tilt, and preset commands to PTZ cameras over the network. This is camera control only — it is not a video source.

The video signal from a PTZ camera can arrive through any supported source type (for example, the camera's HDMI output connected to a capture card and selected as a Local camera).

Setup

In the Video Feed settings, expand the PTZ section:

Click Connect to establish the ONVIF connection. Once connected, click Refresh Presets to load camera presets.

Presets

Select a preset from the dropdown to recall it. Use Store to save the current camera position as a new preset, or Overwrite to update an existing one.

Using ONVIF with tracking

ONVIF PTZ is intended for aiming the camera to a fixed position before tracking begins. Once the camera is aimed and calibrated, keep it locked. The calibration is built for that specific camera position — if the camera moves, tracking will no longer match the stage and you will need to recalibrate.
